The biblical references to Prisca (Priscilla) and Aquila
are brief, but intriguing:
- From Acts 18:2, we know that they were Jewish leatherworkers
in Rome in AD 49 when Emperor Claudius expelled the Jews
and that they went to Corinth, where Paul met them in about
AD 51.
- From Acts 18:18, we know they accompanied Paul to Ephesus
in about AD 53 and remained there after he left.
- From Acts 18:26, we know that they taught the powerful
speaker Apollos when he arrived in Ephesus.
- From 1 Corinthians 16:19, we know that they hosted a house
church in Ephesus.
- From Romans 16:3, we know that they had returned to Rome
by about AD 56 after Claudius lifted the ban on Jews and
that at some point they had risked their lives for Paul.
- And from 2 Timothy 4:17, we know that they had returned
to Ephesus by about AD 67 when Paul wrote them from Rome.
